in response to the glasgow club two way mirror.
i want to start by saying: yes, its despicable. its not cool etc etc
however - if there ARE signs, as the club say but are yet to prove, marking this mirror as a two way one its not so bad. yes, its still bad. i’m not saying its not bad.
i guess what i’m trying to say is: thats the club culture in the UK. the VAST MAJORITY of people that go out clubbing, especially to places like that, are voyeurs and people that enjoy being watched.
if you choose to go out to places such as that, you will be looked at. people are drunk, people are drinking, people are high, people are off their face. people are mostly out to ‘have a good night’ - and a hell of a lot of people are trained that to ‘have a good night’ you have to be utterly off your face, pick up the prettiest/most handsome other you can manage and have off with them before forgetting the entire thing and ending up in a puddle of kebab shop vomit.
and that is why so many people do not have a problem with the two way mirror and are not complaining about it.
clubs have gimmicks, clubs run by tricking people in/enticing people in, having something to stand them apart from the other clubs on the strip. the mirror doesn’t view into the toilet, it views into the makeup area. there’s often 20-30 people trying to redo makeup in that area on a busy night. you’re gonna be seen by people?
i’m not excusing it, but its one of those things that only people not involved in that club culture will be disgusted by.
